Between Project FeederWatch and the winter listers there was an abundance of 
reports this week. Red-bellied Woodpeckers were seen in four different 
locations and several local feeders noted Pine Siskins, Red-breasted Nuthatches 
and Sharp-shinned Hawks. A White-crowned Sparrow continues to visit a Camden 
East feeder and an Am. Pipit was seen near Bath, a Golden-crowned Kinglet was 
at the lagoons on Tuesday and a Carolina Wren is just east of the city. Great 
Blue Herons were seen at Bedford Mills and Elginburg on the 28th and 2nd 
respectively.
Raptor sightings included Bald Eagles at Bedford Mills and Westport, a 
Peregrine Falcon at Amherstview on Tuesday and a N. Goshawk at Bedford Mills 
yesterday. A late Turkey Vulture was over Amherst Island last Saturday.
Waterfowl concentrations remain quite good as we haven't yey had a hard freeze. 
In Elevator Bay there are Ring-necked Ducks, Canvasbacks, Redheads, N. Pintails 
and lots of Am. Coots. The Cataraqui River has N. Shovelers, more Pintails and 
several Ruddy Ducks. The lagoons featured more Shovelers, Lesser Scaup and 
Green-winged Teal. In Hay Bay, again more Shovelers and Pintails, 20 Hooded 
Mergansers, 230 Tundra Swans and 180 Bonaparte's Gulls. There are 4 Wood Ducks 
in the river in Napanee and 19 Trumpeter Swans were at the Narrow's Lock on the 
Rideau Canal on Monday.
