Hello Ontbirders. While viewing the male Eurasian Wigeon at Presquile
yesterday I stumbled upon another 'Eurasian'-type wigeon. I will post the
photos to the OFO website when I get a chance and while none of them are
stunning they will hopefully get the point across (digiscoped photos of
course). The bird hung out with the other American Wigeon and at times seemed
to have a genuine affinity to the male Eurasian Wigeon. Both birds were in the
marshes opposite Campground Office. I find it interesting that no one else has
mentioned anything about this bird after so many have looked for and seen the
male Eurasian Wigeon. I have not seen photos of the reputed hybrid Eurasian x
American Wigeon from Elevator Bay in Kingston about a month back and can't help
but wonder if this could be the same bird? Stranger things have happened. I
look forward to any comments on the photos after their up. The bird does not
sound anything like what was reported from Port Rowan today.

There are plenty of great websites to further your knowledge on the subject of
hybrids within these 2 species and here are a couple I found:

Today while sifting through the hundreds of Goldeneye at the end of Fruitland
Rd. in Stoney Creek I picked out the hybrid male Barrow's x Common Goldeneye
with Mark Field.

Directions: Fruitland Rd. in Stoney Creek is reached off of QEW to Niagara.
Presquile P.P. is found by going through Brighton, Ontario.
