Greetings Ontbirders Today at roughly 7:45am I had a Fox Sparrow foraging under the spruce tree in the front yard of 83 Bayshore Rd. Other good winter birds include 2 Red-winged Blackbirds,1 Grackle, 2 White-throated Sparrows, about a dozen Pine Siskins (new today) and a female White-winged Crossbill aptly using her tongue to pull nyger seed out of the thin slots of a nyger feeder for the last three days.
Yesterday there were at least 20 to 30 redpolls in the birch trees just north of the nature centre in the park. Bill Gilmour To reach Presqu'ile Provincial Park, follow the signs from Brighton. Locations within the Park are shown on a map at the back of a tabloid that is available at the Park gate. Access to the offshore islands is restricted at this time of year to prevent disturbance to the colonial nesting birds there. Birders are encouraged to record their observations on the bird sightings board provided near the campground office by The Friends of Presqu'ile Park and to fill out a rare bird report for species not listed there. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
