Hi, Ontbirders,
A Fox Sparrow was found at noon by Bev Healy and myself at The Arboretum
Centre feeder in Guelph on Wednesday and was later seen at dusk at the
Gosling Wildlife Gardens feeder. Yesterday, at least 25 Bohemian
Waxwings and 16 Cedar Waxwings were seen (found by Bryan Wyatt) in The
Arboretum Centre parking lot feeding on juniper berries. Historically,
The Arboretum has been a consistent place to find Bohemians when they
are present in southern Ontario because of our large numbers of junipers
and berry-producing trees and shrubs. The Fox Sparrow is only our 2nd
winter record.
