I too visited Colonel Sam Smith Park today and thanks to Jean Iron’s directions
the Western Grebe was easily seen.

Add to Dave Milsom’s sighting list at Col. Sam – E. Phoebe, Barn Swallows,
Purple Martins, Common Loon, Blue-winged Teal, N. Shovelers, both Scaup
species, A. Coot

To let Dave know. he probable did see an Eared Grebe as I found one. The bird
was in the area of the white buoy (on the lake) which is off the southwest side
of the tip near the mouth of the Marina Bay.

Hey Dave – I guesstimated 650 R-N Grebes, you missed some : - ))
