Everyone, Dave Elder has asked me to post the finding of a Least Tern today (May 10) at Atikokan, Rainy River District.
Location is: Sawmill Bay of Lower Steep Rock Lake, about 3 km. west of Atikokan. It was present for several hours this morning. A photo has been sent to the OFO photo web site. Today it was 100 degrees F. in Iowa, exactly the type of weather that could propel at Least Tern to Rainy River Distict. This is a NEW SPECIES for northern Ontario, and only the 5th record overall for the province. Who says northern Ontario is dull!
