A few minutes ago (2:09 PM May 20, 2011) flocks of Atlantic brant were flying NNW over Becket's landing, in the south of Ottawa. Certainly hundreds of birds.
Should cross the Ottawa river in the Shirley's Bay area before 3PM. We are inland about 3 kilometers from the large bend of the Rideau River at Kemptville Creek. Surprisingly, we see these fast moving flocks of brant over our property almost every year - a very well-remembered route for the birds.
