The Godwit was still present this morning at 5:30 on Greenbank Rd.. All the other shorebirds except the White-rumped were also seen. An addition was one Semi. Plover. The peeps were Semi. Sandpipers. Some patience may be needed as the Godwit can not be seen if it is along the near edge of the pond due to the height of the hay. I had to stand on the seat of my truck to view the closer finger of the pond where the Godwit was this morning.
The Brant was there as well. CAUTION: Greenbank Rd. is a very busy commuter route. It would be best to wait until after rush hour to look for the Godwit. Directions: From highway 416 take the West Hunt Club exit, go east to Greenbank Rd. turn south. The wet area is on the west side about half way to Fallowfield Rd. The pond is in the only hay field. The other fields are all crop fields - mostly corn. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
