Good evening Ontbirders!
Following the post of Ken Burrell RE: Dickcissels east of Wheatley, Ben Vaughan
and I tried for the birds today.
We were immediately rewarded once we were on site.
Two obvious males were singing from Mullens close to HWY. 3, and a third male
could be heard in the distance, at the south east end of the field, closer to
Camper's Cove Road.
We also met the property owner, Randy, who said there are likely more than 3
birds, according to his daily monitoring.
With many thanks to Ken for the post, and to Randy for the site hospitality.
Directions, as per Ken's initial post.
Directions:
Heading east on hwy. 3 from Wheatley, go about 2km.
The field is pretty easy to pick out (its the only field that
isn't a row crop) and is at the corner of hwy. 3 and Camper's Cover Road.
The birds were between the close oil derrick and Campers Cover Road.
Best,
Len Manning
