Ontbirds subscribers,

There was a fairly nice fallout of migrants at Thickson's Woods today. The
highlight was a Nelson's Sparrow just north of the path at the very south end
of the woods, right in behind my house. It was among fifty White-throated
Sparrows, thirty-five Dark-eyed Juncos and a couple of Lincoln's Sparrows.
There were several dozen Golden-crowned Kinglets around and warblers included
22 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 1 Northern Parula, 1 Cape May Warbler and 3
Black-throated Blue Warblers. Winter Wrens were moving about a lot, so it was
difficult to tell how many there were, but I would say easily a dozen. The
local Black-capped Chickadees alerted me to the presence of a Northern Saw-whet
Owl in one of my cedars. The lake was very calm today with very little movement
of birds off shore.
