Visitors included Lilli from Kitchener and Sue from Waterloo who were treated to views of Osprey, Bald Eagles, Red-tailed Hawks and many of the local birds in the marsh. Weather: Changeable weather today. It started off looking like rain, but instead we got patches of clouds and sun. Mild temperatures and light winds out of the south. Fog and haze throughout the day limited visibilty. Raptor Observations: Yet another slow day of migration. Two Osprey were seen a few times throughout the day engaging in what can only be described as "migration drills". They would appear from the east together and soar around for a while before perching around the marsh, returning to the east, and starting all over again. Non-raptor Observations: An American Bittern flew over the marsh from one reed bed to the next, giving nice views. A flock of 15 Black-bellied Plovers went past going west. A Lincoln's Sparrow was heard and seen under the tower in the afternoon. Let's hope for some birds! ======================================================================== Report submitted by Stephen Kolbe ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/
