Greetings all,

I found an immature White-eyed Vireo this morning at Presqu'ile Provincial Park - only the second ever fall record for the Park of this less-than-annual visitor. It was with a mixed flock of kinglets, creepers, juncos and Myrtle Warblers on the Beach 3 access road where the "seasonal nature trail" (the old water pipeline) crosses the road. Fred Helleiner was able to get on site pretty quickly and we spent a half hour looking but failed to relocate it. There is a big push of passerines today, and most birds seen were moving north fairly rapidly.

I also saw 2 adult Little Gulls off from Beach 2 flying out over Popham Bay and an American Bittern was seen flying over the marsh from the causeway outside the park gate.

Cheers,

Doug McRae

Directions:

Presqu'ile Provincial Park is located south of the town of Brighton, on the north shore of Lake Ontario. It can be reached by Hwy 401 or the former Hwy 2; follow signs from Brighton to the Park. Park maps are available in the park newspaper at the gate.
