Hello,
I visited 773 Sand Road this morning to see the Rufus Hummingbird. Langis Sirois, his friend and another Ottawa birder were there already. The bird has a pattern of returning to the feeder every 20 to 25 minutes. We all had good views as it came in, fed and then returned back to some trees behind the home. While we were there, we had three Gray Jays fly through the yard, stopping shortly for a look at us and then moving on. At the same time, an almost mature Bald Eagle was noticed as it flew in and started circling the field besides us, again, we all had great view of this eagle. It still had a few light coloured feather on it's under wings and a hint of dark spots on its tail feathers. We also visited Lake Dore, where a female Snowy Owl was spotted, perched on a rocky point along the western shore lines. Great birding, Cheers, Brian Young CCNAB at http://www.birds-of-north-america.net Directions; Eganville is on Hwy 60, approx. 1hr., 15 minutes west of Ottawa.
