The 27th annual Cedar Creek CBC (central Essex County) was held on December 17
and tallied 88 species and 17,155 individuals.

We recorded a good variety of water birds on the count as there is no ice on
Lake Erie or any of the local creeks and ditches. The best bird of the count
was a White-eyed Vireo found by Jim Burk at the John R. Park Homestead located
on County Road 50 east of Harrow.

Other highlights included 2 Cackling Geese, 1 Horned Grebe, 216 Wild Turkeys,
31 Sandhill Cranes, 63 American Crows (a record low) and 38 White-winged
Crossbills.
