Hello,
I birded the Gatineau Park and Eardley area today. Saw one male Red Crossbill on the Eardley-Masham Road, as it flew across the road. Black-capped Chickadees were in fair numbers, feeding on the different cone seeds. One group had a Red-breasted Nuthatch joined in with them. Saw three single Ruffed Grouse on the roads, one on the Eardley-Masham Road and two on Concession 6, must be a good year for them. Also seen were two Rough-legged Hawks on the Steele Road, which follows the foot of the Gatineau Park to Chemin Lac de Loupe. Cheers, Brian Young CCNAB at http://www.birds-of-north-america.net Directions; Eardley-Masham Rd. can be reached from Hwy. 148, approx. 20 minutes west of Aylmer.Concession 6 and Steele Rd. can be reached from Wilson Rd., which also meets the 148 Hwy, a couple of km farther west of the Eardley-Masham intersection. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
