Hello,
Birded the south west and west areas from Ottawa-Hull today. The Rufus Hummingbird was last seen at 773 Sand Rd., south of Eganville on Christmas Eve, the home owners feels it has moved on. The night temperatures were reported as low as -20 C that night. Seen two Bald Eagles resting on the ice of Lake Dore, one immature and an adult, next to Hwy 41 North, the lake is now fully frozen over. There were 23 Wild Turkeys, north Of Cobden, feeding in a field on Foresters Fall Rd, south of Queens Line. Between the towns of Portage-Du-Fort and Shawville, Red-tailed Hawks and Rough-legged Hawks were seen in small numbers along the road sides. On Stoney Batter Rd, south of Shawville, next to a field with the corn still standing, there was an abundant mixture of Tree Sparrows and other more common birds. Along the Wyman Rd., north of Hwy 148, there was a small number of Snow Buntings gathering sand from the shoulder. One Northern Shrike near the intersection of Steele Rd. and Wilson Rd. in Eardley. north of Hwy. 148. Another eagle seen on Eardley-Masham Rd. at the base of the Gatineau Park, possible Golden Eagle or an immature Bald Eagle. It passed beyond the tree lines before it was absolutely id, seen being dived bombed by 3 ravens. More Tree Sparrows and Dark-eyed Juncos seen on Kerr Rd. in Luskville.
