Peter Yoerg notified me today that he observed an adult drake King Eider from the east pier of Port Weller, Niagara region this morning (26 Dec). Presumably this is the returning adult/near-ad drake King Eider that was at this location last winter.
Directions: Port Weller East is located in the Niagara region NE of the city of St. Catharines at the mouth of the Welland Canal at Lake Ontario. It can be accessed by turning north onto Seaway Haulage Rd. from Lakeshore Rd. and continuing a short distance on Seaway Haulage to the parking area at the base of the east pier.
