The King Eider was seen from the east bank trail in the canal with a group of
Common Mergansers at 10:30 this morning about a hundred yards past the cement
walls of the lock. We walked to the end of the trail and were able to see the
snowy owl sitting on the west side cement wall near the lighthouse at the canal
entrance.
