I went out again today to try and find the Egret and it was spotted just west of the bridge on Matchette road in La Salle. I then walked a little west to get a closer look and met a man who allowed me to use his backyard to spot the bird but his dog kinda beat me to it and scared the bird off. Me and John (the man who lives there) both saw the bird fly off, he told me that he saw the bird about 10 days ago so were guessing it stayed the winter. I left that area after getting a terrible pic of the bird and walked the trail east for about 1 mile and spotted a Catbird in some brush. It was 2 years ago in march that I reported seeing a Catbird in the same area to the folks at Ojibway nature center. I'm thinking this bird also wintered over. I also saw a bald eagle fly over and heard a Kingfisher. There is also a Mockingbird along the trail. Directions to the Egret are to exit off Sprucewood road and turn left (south) for about a mile and Turkey creek runs right thru. The Catbird can be found behind the Tim Hortons on Malden road in La Salle. There's a walking trail behind Tim's and the bird was seen there at around 3 o'clock.
