The Holiday Beach Migration Observatory (HBMO) started our usual spring bird
banding season at Hillman Marsh Conservation Area today. While the majority of
birds banded were Red-winged Blackbirds and American Robins we had two birds
of note: the first was the first ever Wilson's Snipe banded by HBMO; the second
was an after second year White-eyed Vireo.

Greater Yellowlegs (3), Short-billed Dowitcher (3), Dunlin (many) and a
Solitary Sandpiper have joined the Lesser Yellowlegs and Pectoral Sandpipers
that have been in the shorebird cell for the last week or 10 days.

Three Great Egrets and an Osprey were noted on the east side of the Hillman
Creek bridge.

Hillman Marsh is located at the intersection of County Road 20 (Oak Street) and
County Road 37 approximately 15 kilometres east of the Town of Leamington, and
north of Point Pelee National Park. HBMO will be banding at Hillman Marsh most
days until May 21st. Stop by and visit us in the "barn".
