I had 45 minutes this afternoon to check out Rattray Marsh for shorebirds. At 2:25 pm the pelican flew in to the marsh and settled in. Immediately one of the Mute Swans which as chasing at Trumpeter Swan and went after pelican ... within about 5 minutes it flew off and headed west . Undoubted this is the bird which was posted in the Hamilton area earlier today. Not a single shorebird on the mudflats this afternoon but the Blue-winged Warbler seen last week was vigorously singing when I saw along the second board walk on the meadow trail which runs up near the base the first bridge over Sheridan Creek. The screech owl as not its usual spot.

Directiions:
Park at the south end of Bexhill which runs off Lakeshore Boulevard between Erin Mills Parkway and Mississauga. The marsh observation tower is just down the hill forward ... about a two minute walk.
