Ron Pittaway just called from the Sedge Wren Marsh on Wylie Road to say he heard a Yellow Rail ticking loudly east of the bridge at 7:48 p.m.
I'm very happy about this because in the 24-hour birding competition The Carden Challenge on 25 and 26 May, our team of Eleanor Beagan, Jean Iron, Andrew Keaveney and Ron Reid, is called the Yellow Rails. We sure hope this one stays and that we will hear one then. For more info http://www.jeaniron.ca/2012/cardenceleb.htm Directions: Go north of Kirkfield on Kirkfield Road 6 past the liftlock to McNamee. Turn right then immediately left onto Wylie Road and go north about 2 km to Sedge Wren Marsh. Please park in designated area just south of marsh, then walk to bridge.
