The banded Semipalmated Sandpiper which was sighted at Reesor Pond on 6 June was reported by David Mizrahi of the New Jersey Audubon Society as having been banded in Brazil it on 25 January 2012 at a site called Coroa dos Ovos in the state of Maranhão. This is located on the Atlantic coast of Brazil, 6135 km from Reesor Pond (of which 5400 km are over water).
In light of yesterday's report by Fred Helleiner of a Semipalmated Sandpiper which migrated from Argentina, it may be of value to note that if a coloured band is sighted, the information can be entered into the database at the website: bandedbirds.org Charles _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
