Given the time of year and recent reports of Dickcissels, not surprisingly I came across a few singing Dickcissels today. These were at locations the same as last year.

The first at 07:30 this morning was at the scrubby field outside of Point Pelee Park near the SW corner of Concession C Road and Mersea Rd. 19. A singing male was here. It was seen again when I stopped with Steve Pike and Chris Law at noon. On a hunch, I checked out the weedy field at the SE corner of Talbot Trail and Camper's Cove Road just east of Wheatley. Here there were perhaps 3 birds singing. This is the same location from a year ago. As a side note, some are in the Blenheim area. Four were reported in the Blenheim Landfill off Erieau Rd. this morning by Steve Charbonneau and Keith Burk. Although the landfill is off limits to the public, likely more are in the area if you can find a field that has not been cut!

For the Pelee area one, go east on Concession C Road to the intersection of Mersea Rd. 19. Turn south and go a short distance and listen for the bird in the scrubby field.
