Birder's- a small group of us toured Chippewa County in the eastern Upper
Peninsula of Michigan. At Trout Lake we were graced with amazing prolonged
scope views of a singing Connecticut Warbler as another Connecticut sang in the
background. The next stop produced a pair of Kirtland's Warblers with a male
seemingly on territory with another bird chasing it around -maybe two males,
but didn't get a definitive view at the second bird. On Farm Truck Rd. we had a
singing Yellow-bellied Flycatcher but Olive -sided Flycatcher was elusive. At
Whitefish Point most of the group went out to see the 3 sets of nesting Plovers
Plovers and lingering shorebirds included 3 Semipalm Sandpipers and a
Sanderling. One lucky participant who stayed at the visitors centre spotted a
light morph Swainson's Hawk which is likely the same bird seen earlier in the
week.

Walking in from Whitefish Point we had a dozen or so Buckeyes and a Little
Sulphur-

Given the heat we opted to not head to Munuscong for Leconte's Sparrow which we
missed earlier at the Forrest Rd. site south of the Sault. I have missed them
here before on really dry years.

Thanks to the participants for an enjoyable outing.
