Late in the afternoon (about 4:00 pm) of June 10, I saw five Dickcissels on and
near a field about 2 km east of Wheatley on the Talbot Trail at the southeast
corner of Campers' Cove Road. There was one male singing on a hydro line next
to the field. There was another Dickcissel, possibly another male, on the same
line but further off. One male was perched on the top of a weed in the field
and two other Dickcissels (sexes unknown) perched on weeds further off. The
field consisted largely of goldenrods, clover and alfalfa.
