An excellent two-day trip up the Bruce Peninsula produced 109 bird species for 
the more than 30 birders attending each day.Highlights : Saturday the Malcolm 
Bluff Shores Nature Reserve hosted several well-seen birds including 
Black-billed Cuckoo, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Scarlet Tanager, Black-throated 
Blue and Cerulean warblers.Numerous grassland birds were seen over the two 
days: Eastern Meadowlark, Bobolink, Grasshopper Sparrow, Eastern Bluebird, 
Upland Sandpiper, Wilson's Snipe, and Brewer's Blackbird.Other good finds were 
American Bittern, Clay-colored Sparrow, Purple Finch, Marsh Wren, Black Tern, 
Pileated Woodpecker, Piping Plover, Sora, Merlin, many Sandhill Cranes and Bald 
Eagle with young at the nest.Many thanks to Alfred Raab and Cindy Cartwright 
for leading this outing.Thanks also to Mary Ramotar for her expertise with 
botany. 7 species of orchids were found and several rare ferns. Other finds of 
interest included Black Bear and a roadside Great Ash Sphinx Moth. Dave
