We have had a few requests for updates. As of this afternoon there was one
chick and three dirty eggs at the nest near the Compass restaurant at Bronte
Harbour. This indicates no losses since my last visit on Sunday. The nest on a
tire in Bronte Creek opposite OCs restaurant at Bronte & Marine had one clean
egg. In the afternoon heat the birds of both nests had elected to leave the
nests untended. The chick was being carried on a parent’s back.

The Pied-billed Grebe continues.

We will have to follow progress in grebe land via Ontbirds from BC for a while
so please post if you see something interesting.

Directions: Exit the QEW at Bronte Rd. (Oakville) and go to the lake. The grebe
nest with the chick is just east of Compass Restaurant on Ontario Street. This
area is served by Oakville Transit routes 2 and 14 from the Bronte and Oakville
GO Train stations respectively.
