3 northern waterthrush were seen last evening at Richmond Dr. Swamp just west
of Cornwall on July 26 and confimed at 8:00 AM this morning. The egret roost is
building with 14 egrets there last evening. There are many other species in or
adjacent to the swamp and it is a wonderful time to visit; it is fairly easy to
spot 30 species on a regular visit.
To get to Richmond, exit 401 east at Power Dam Dr. and come to the traffic
light on Vincent Massey ( old highway #2). Turn right and drive 2 kilometers to
Richmond DR. (on right). Drive 1/2 K; just before the railway tracks, you will
see an entry to the marsh. Walk out to the disused rail line and stroll through
the Marsh from an elevated view. Great for photography. Bob Scranton
