Weather: A cloudy day all day today, with some light drizzle in the afternoon. Quite humid, but the temperature only got up to 24C. Raptor Observations: Some raptor movement early in the morning, including a Peregrine Falcon that buzzed the tower 5 times, but it fizzled out despite the north-east winds. All the resident birds came for a visit however, including 3 adult Bald Eagles, a second year Bald Eagle and 3 of the "Amherstburg" Ospreys. Non-raptor Observations: The passerine migration continued unabated today at Holiday Beach. Warblers in particular were everywhere. Twelve species of Warbler were observed from the hawk tower, and the HBMO passerine banders could not keep up and had to periodically close the mist nets. I neglected to point out yesterday that there are still 5 American Pelicans at Holiday Beach. They have been there since May if you still need them for your year list. Predictions: A fair day tomorrow, with temperatures in the low 20's and winds out of the north-east that will hopefully bring in the first Broad-winged Hawks. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Todd Pepper ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
