The fog soon lifted and the rest of the day featured mostly clear blue skies until a short shower during the 2 o'clock hour. The wind was out of the south all day. Raptor Observations: Accipiter action was hot and heavy after the fog lifted. Sharp-shinned and Cooper's hawks were zipping by at a good clip for a few hours. Turkey Vultures also asserted themselves today with several kettles crossing to our north. Non-raptor Observations: Purple Martins (40+) continue to be seen regularly along with the usual assortment of Northern Rough-winged, Tree and Barn swallows. The trees around the site are still showing limited warbler activity. Hopefully that changes soon. Predictions: Mostly clear skies and west winds at 5-10 mph tomorrow. There is a 30 percent chance of precipitation during the morning hours. As long as the rain stays away, it should be a pretty good day. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The primary site used by the Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and it's Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
