This is the same warbler I reported last week and a couple of times I thought it had finally headed South but today it surprised me once again and I saw it a few times in my yard in the late morning and late afternoon. I guess the recent high winds are preventing it from leaving ( however very sunny and mild here today) . Its coming to the same rose bush it was visiting last week. and taking small insects and aphids from under the leaves and in between thorns on the main stems. It was more often at the base of the bush today because of the wind Its not as consistent a visitor as last week and does not stay as long perhaps because a Coopers Hawk has visited my yard twice in the last 4 days ( that I know of) and all bird activity has been more skitish or lacking. A couple of juncos have also been feeding at the same bush and the Orange-crowned Warbler is more often seen when there are several juncos in the yard ...which is located in Orleans off Belcourt one block from Innes Road this first link is for anyone interested in seeing a couple of photos from late this afternoon of the warbler. http://www.pbase.com/photofair/image/147066138 The second link is of the Coopers Hawk in my yard on Saturday and this image was taken by Bill McMullen while waiting to get some shots of the OC warbler. I have one less chipmunk in the yard now... http://www.pbase.com/perseus475/image/146979733 Gary Fairhead 613 841 1737/ Cell 613 302 0284 _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
