Raptor Observations: It was a little livelier today than it's been lately. I even had to get out the clicker and count a few Turkey Vulture kettles for the first time in a while. Spotting a juvenile Northern Goshawk circling above the boat launch parking lot was a nice way to end the day. Non-raptor Observations: A flock of Common Redpolls (20+) flew in to perch for a short time in the bare Maple to our left, offering up good, well-lit looks. Great Blue Herons were moving (15+), as were American Crows (400+). Ruddy Ducks, Bufflehead and Lesser Scaup continue to be seen in the channel. A pair of American Black Ducks flew by late in the day. Predictions: Similar to today, it's going to be sunny with highs in the mid 40s and light and variable wind. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The primary site used by the Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and it's Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
