At Mud Lake in Ottawa this morning (Britannia Bay section of the city), Jim Nealon and I saw a first or second winter glaucous gull standing on the open ice. The bird was visible from the main road (Cassels Street). We saw it from the small parking lot on the left just before you reach the filtration plant grounds.
Directions: >From Carling Avenue westbound, turn right (north) onto Britannia Road, following it to its end at Cassels Street. Turn right on Cassels Street and follow to Mud Lake on the right.
