While visiting in the new housing development in Barrhaven south I spotted a Mockingbird on Forest Water Way. The bird stopped for less than a minute in a lone tree then flew further south. I believe this bird was just moving through because there is virtually no habitat in this sterile environment to suggest it might remain within the subdivision - only a few small recently planted trees. It would find more suitable sites across the Jock River or in older sections of Barrhaven.
Directions: The area is in Ottawa (Barrhaven) off Greenbank Rd south of the Jock River.
