Once it cleared up later this morning, I headed over to Ridgetown.
The north pond (behind the buildings) had an incredible concentration of
waterfowl--jam packed!
I spent considerable time looking.
*4 Greater White-fronted Geese resting on the north bank
*~8 Cackling Geese
*Unfortunately I could not find the 3 Ross's Geese, but I assume they are
there somewhere. They were present yesterday.
*Blue-winged Teal still present
*Wood Duck-one male, but two have been present
*well over 1000 Tundra Swans-many coming and going
*Near the entrance driveway along the old R/R was a flock of Common Redpolls
with juncos and Tree Sparrows.
*Horned Larks and Snow Buntings in good numbers today esp. along C-K Road
15.
Lagoon Directions: Ridgetown is about 30 minutes east of Chatham. Exit 401
at Rd. 21 (#109) and head south. From the main corner in Ridgetown at Erie
St. and Main St., follow Erie St. north about 1.5 km to Mitton Line/Palmer
St. Turn left onto Mitton Line and go past fertilizer plant. Lagoons are
on the south (left) side and you will see a viewing stand. Do not enter
beyond fence.
North lagoons are behind the buildings-just drive in the paved road.
