I and Andrew Davis confirmed the Slaty-backed Gull just now at 11:34am New Year's Day along the Niagara Parkway above the falls; currently sitting on the concrete barrier by the water control structure (?). Confirmed it with the back colour, eye streaking and pink legs. It is sitting amongst ring-billed & herring gulls, a very clear easy view from a cooperative bird, unfortunately it is easiest to see from what is technically a (empty) no-parking zone in a pull-off from the main drive.
Happy birding & happy new year!
