Today around noon I was walking my dogs through Thomson Park when I saw an
unusual bird perched on a branch over the creek.  I studied it for a while to
put its appearance to memory.  When I got home and looked it up it had the
exact appearance of an adult male Ringed Kingfisher.  I went back with my
camera to try to find it but couldn't.  My book says that they are only in the
lower United States or Mexico.  Could it have been something else?
Thomson Park is located between Brimley Road and McCowan Road just north of
Lawrence Avenue in Scarborough.  The bird was in the area closer to McCowan
Road and St. Andrew's Road.Pat Tapper
