Today around noon I was walking my dogs through Thomson Park when I saw an unusual bird perched on a branch over the creek. I studied it for a while to put its appearance to memory. When I got home and looked it up it had the exact appearance of an adult male Ringed Kingfisher. I went back with my camera to try to find it but couldn't. My book says that they are only in the lower United States or Mexico. Could it have been something else? Thomson Park is located between Brimley Road and McCowan Road just north of Lawrence Avenue in Scarborough. The bird was in the area closer to McCowan Road and St. Andrew's Road.Pat Tapper _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
