Ken Burrell and Andrew Dean just found a Bewick's Swan at Ridgetown Sewage Lagoon. Their bird was in the company of several "Whistling" Tundra Swans.
Bewick's Swan is the old world subspecies of Tundra Swan and is a very rare migrant to Ontario. Ken managed to take a photo of the bird through his scope, which I have posted at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikeburrell/8559574243/in/photostream Ridgetown Sewage Lagoons are accessed from Hwy 401 at exit 109. Travel south on Victoria Road and turn right (west) on Gosnell Line just before reaching the town. There is a short jog in the road at the end of Gosnell Road where you must turn left then make the first right onto Milton Line. The lagoons are just a couple hundred metres ahead. The sewage lagoons have cells on both sides of the road - the swan was in the north-most cell. Email Ken (cc'd on this email) with any questions. I am sure he will post more information on his blog (http://kenburrell.blogspot.ca/) later today.
