Greetings: While monitoring a potential swift nesting site after 4 swifts
had entered by 8:40am June 25, 2013, I heard and saw two more chimney
swifts circling and chattering.

A Sharp-shin had already passed over the area heading south west. I heard
what I perceived to be an alarm call by the two swifts. I jumped out of my
car in time to watch the two chimney swifts flying tight circles around the
SS as it flapped hastily trying to get away from these two little swifts.
They successfully drove the SS off.

This is the first time I have ever seen swifts drive off a predator. It
was amazing to watch. I was also wondering if they were protecting a nest
in the chimney I was monitoring. I would appreciate hearing from anyone
who may have also witnessed anything like this.
