Hey folks,

Kyle Holloway and I got out for a short trip to the sod farms near Beeton
this afternoon.

The best bird was a juvenile Red Knot in the wet sod farm on 12 Conc. east
of the intersection of 10th sideroad. The property owners were very kind
and allowed us to walk in the field a bit to get out of the wind for better
viewing.

Birds were uneasy and flushing frequently, though the knot was pretty
sedentary. There were 130+ Am. Golden-plovers, 30+ Black-bellied Plovers,
two White-rumped Sandpipers, a Baird's, a handful each of Semipalmated,
Least and Pectoral Sands, Killdeer and Semipalmated Plovers. There were
many birds that flushed and were running around in the ruts, so there was
likely more. Peeps were especially flighty for some reason.

We did not get any Buff-breasteds but the light was fading and birds were
being tough. I would not be surprised if there are some still out there.

Directions:

Go North on Highway 400, take the Highway 9 exit, go west to 10th Sideroad
and go North on this road until 12th Conc, on which turn east and the birds
were there. They move around so be sure to check the general area as there
is lots of suitable habitat at the moment.

Good Luck!

Lev Frid
