Hello at Birdalert OntBirds;
This email is to report on a banded Great Egret seen yesterday (Sept. 12/2013)
at 1 pm in north Kingston (Glenburnie) Ontario.
The exact location was on Perth Road north of Unity Rd. at a pond on the west
side, just south of Collins Creek (which passes under Perth Rd.). There were
five Great Egrets feeding at the time.
I took several photos of three of the birds and when I examined them I noticed
a red band above the knee of the left leg on the closest bird. Because the bird
didn't fly or emerge from the water, I cannot determine if there was a second
band on the right leg.
My name is Roger Lupton, and I reside in Glenburnie, approximately 3km from
where the sighting was made by me.
I have posted a couple of photos of this bird on my Flickr at;
www.Flickr.com/photos/regornotpul/
I also geomapped the location with the data on the photos.
Sincerely,
Roger Lupton
