Raptor Observations: The southward vulture procession continues. Turkey Vultures remained a near constant presence for a fourth straight day. Crossing overhead early, by the late afternoon they were reduced to mere specks in the distance. Red-shouldered Hawks made their biggest push of the season so far. And Peregrine Falcons sped by low and close on multiple occasions, offering up great looks. Non-raptor Observations: Not to be a broken record but songbird migration was again sparse. Blue Jays (800+) were moving and so were Red-winged Blackbirds (300+). Not much else other than that. Monarchs (40+) were less noticeable today. Predictions: Clear skies, south wind and morning fog. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
