The 43rd annual Meaford CBC was held on Saturday December 28. The
day was mild (-1 to +4) with light winds. Snow
was deep. The Georgian Bay shoreline had a bit of an ice edge. 

The results below
include previous years info in brackets.

Total species – 52  (43 year average = 45)
Total individuals – 4175  (close to average)
New species - 0  (cumulative total remains at 117)


New highs:
Mallard – 220 (140 in 2011)
Red-breasted Merganser – 18 (16 in 2007) 
Bald Eagle – 5  (4 in 2010)
Red-bellied Woodpecker – 7  (6 in 2010 & 2012)
Common Raven – 37 (24 in 2011)
American Crow – 253 (225 in 2003)
American Goldfinch – 664 (483 in 1996)
 
New lows & misses:
Common Merganser – 1 (usually in the teens)
Ring-billed Gull – 0  (usually a few)
American Tree Sparrow – 2 (erratic, but
usually 20-100+)


Other notes:
One Northern Pintail and one
Green-winged Teal were second time only occurrences. 
One Greater Scaup was a third time only.
