Hi Ontbirders, I headed out to Reesor Pond during lunch today and easily saw the Whimbrel previously reported by Stan Long, there were 3 birds on the more northerly spit (on west side of pond), also here was a beautiful breeding plumaged Great Egret (long plumes flowing in the wind).
On the southern spit (closest to Reesor Road) there were at least 32 Sanderling in various stages of moult sitting out near the tip of the spit facing into the wind, a couple coming close to full breeding plumage. Also here (and along the southern shoreline way in the distance) were 70+ Dunlin and 30+ Semipalmated Sandpiper, plus 2 Semi-p Plover. Wind was howling at the time I was there making for a very shaky scope, I could not pick out a reported White-rumped Sandpiper, though I'm sure it's still around. Good birding, Frank Pinilla Richmond Hill, ON DIRECTIONS: Reesor Pond lies just north of Hwy 407 on the west side of Reesor Road.
