Visitors:
A good showing for our last day of festival this year, including a few
budding young birders who were spotting Harriers and Sharpies way across
the marsh! Good job everyone, and thanks to all who came out this weekend
and helped make the atmosphere up on the tower so much fun.
Weather:
Winds were up to 26km/h today, coming from the SW and W. It was a beautiful
day with rain beginning just after we closed up.
Raptor Observations:
A moderate day, considering the winds. Sharp-shinned Hawks were most
abundant, with American Kestrels and Turkey Vultures coming in second. A
Peregrine Falcon zoomed by to the W and ended up coming back again, so
wasn't counted as migrating. Hopefully we'll see it again another day!
Non-raptor Observations:
970 Blue Jays made up our big numbers, and also let us know when a raptor
was on its way by their collective swooping down into the trees. 36 Chimney
Swifts, 12 R-Throated Hummingbirds, and 82 American Goldfinches were also
seen. 2 Monarchs. See today's eBird list

Predictions:
A cooler day, temperatures only going up to 17C but with winds from the NW,
hopefully bringing some more hawks with them!
