Today's 4 hour stint on Hawk Hill was, with the large exception of a Bald Eagle
a complete bust as far as Raptor recording goes. But something pretty neat
happened instead. A couple of regulars showed up and said what amounted to no
regrets that there were no birds. On days when it was busy they thought about
all kinds of stuff to talk about but didn't have time to do it plus they'd
have missed the company if they'd stayed home. Newcomers arrived and got all
excited about our staff of resident raptors who obliged us all by hanging
around. We exchanged personal bird ideas, the stuffromof which the Science of
the Future is often born. One person learned the schedule of the hawk
migration. She'll be here for the Golden Eagles. Another went home with a great
recipe for rogon josh. He'll be up a couple of times in the night. The point
is we all learned stuff and we all had a lot of fun. Tomorrow is for that as
well and I hope some more folks show up who read this little report because t
hey've all arrived brimful of ideas so far.
Friday? Well, that's different. Northwest winds and all the raptors your
binoculars can hold. See you then if not sooner.
The way to High Park is barred once again by those mysterious rascals with
their orange signs. Be careful on the right if you're driving down Parkside,
they've dug a couple of wheel-swallowers in the curb. Walk down from High Park
Subway and we will meet you on....
Hawk Hill!
