Word yesterday evening of a Harlequin Duck at the north end of Strathcona had
me out there to see it this morning, 7:40. It was very near the west bank
until it set off to feed more midstream. The works on a new viewing platform
over the river (it will also serve as a footbridge) have made something of a
wing-dam, concentrating the flow of the river. The duck seems to rest in the
shallows on the west side, downstream (north) of those works.

This is about a kilometer north (downstream) of the 417 bridge, with views
likely good from either side of the river once the bird is in the main current.
