Recent reports to November 13, 2014 A probable adult non breeding PACIFIC LOON was observed by many feeding along the north shore (in Quebec) of the Ottawa River on the 9th. It was observed for over an hour on the water at a distance of at least a kilometer and a half from the Des Chenes Rapids Lookout then flew to the west and was not refound. If accepted by the OFNC Bird Records Subcommittee this will be a new species for the area. 359 bird species have been recorded in the OFNC 50 km circle centered on the Peace Tower, Parliament Hill, Ottawa. HARLEQUIN DUCK (juv f) found on the Rideau River on the 4th continues just north of the footbridge/bike path now under construction which will join the east end of Somerset St in Strathcona Park with the west end of Donald St at the Rideau Tennis Club.
