Led by Doug McRae and Bill Gilmour, a small group of young birders and
their parents ventured out into the ice and snow of Presqu'ile Park today.

It was well worth it. We had great looks at ducks - the mergansers, Common
Goldeeye, scaup - lesser and greater, Redheads and Ruddy Ducks. We also had
Red-necked grebes and a Red-throated Loon - a lifer for some. We observed a
Bald Eagle swimming to catch a fish which it carried off to eat. Later we
observed Common Redpolls and a Hoary Redpoll at Bill Gilmour's feeders.

We spent a great afternoon learning the finer points of skinning birds and
a great time was had by all.
